INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 large apple, peeled and chopped
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, mix together the eggs and oil. Add the cinnamon, white and brown sugars, and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
Add the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder, and mix until thoroughly incorporated. Fold in the apples and the nuts and pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
Sooo good. I do have to add a little milk though. The batter seems too thick. I’ll make this many more times!!
Very good!!! But as stated in the previous comment I also added 2/3 cup of milk turned out great
Its a good recipe I will Try Pecans next time may taste better
I’m going to swap out flour and sugars for substitutes and make it carb friendly. I’ll let y’all know how it turns out.
what can I use instead of nuts
You can just leave out the nuts!
Double the apples at least and yes add 1/2 cup milk. Sooo good….. idk maybe a glaze too?
What can you substitute for all that oil?
Applesauce is a good substitute for oil. Even with the chopped apple.
Maybe a stupid question but can I use a 9×9 glass Pyrex dish instead?
Jim, I’m sure you can use any pan you want. I will probably use a bundt pan.
Ive made this many times and only in a bundt pan and it turns out perfect and beautiful for presentation!
I was out of milk, so I used half a cup of buttermilk, and it gave it a really good flavor.
what is the equivalent of a cup in ounces please.
8 ounces
which apples work best
I used a can of apple pie filling added some raisins and it was very moist and delicious
I have made this cake many times and Love it !
Thank you 💕
This is a great recipe. I made this Saturday morning for some friends coming over for a meeting & it was a great success. Next time I will add an extra apple & more walnuts.
If I use a Bundt pan how long should I cook it for
Super fantastic! I followed the recipe pretty much to the letter. Added about 1/2 cup buttermilk after reading comments, used Pecans instead of walnuts, because that’s what I had on hand, and did not peel
the apples. Honestly, after it was baked, didn’t notice the peels at all. The cake was dense, not too sweet, and moist. Thank you for this most wonderful, delicious, and easy recipe 😋 ❤️
