
I found this recipe online and I had to try it out. A moist, delicious, and most importantly endlessly creative cake with only 3 ingredients? It had to be a scam.
The person who posted this recipe claims she got it from an Amish woman, which means that you don’t need any fancy mixers to prepare it. So I sent my mother out to get the 3 ingredients and, curious to see if it would actually make something, she obliged. The 3 ingredients are:
3 large eggs
1 box cake mix (any flavor)
1 can pie filling (any flavor)
I chose yellow cake mix and peach pie filling, but you can actually choose, for example, yellow cake mix and cherry pie filling and the cake will come out pink! Check it out:
You can also choose blueberry pie filling and the cake comes out blue or chocolate cake mix and the cake comes out, well, chocolate.
The recipe claims that the cake comes out so moist and so delicious that you don’t even need to frost it.

I would guess the standard 15 ounce can of pie filling is what’s required. I would personally use an 11×9 or a 10×10 inch pan.
Hi Gary. I’d use a bundt pan actually, or you could use a 13×9 pan because a regular cake mix will fill two 8 or 9 inch cake pans which you’d normally stack for a layer cake. Alternately you could still use two 8 or 9 inch pans and just portion out half of the mixture into each, maybe give one to a neighbor? As for temperature, I bake most cakes at 350 degrees. She mentioned baking for 35 minutes which is important to know because with pie filling in it, an inserted toothpick to check for doneness would not yield a clean toothpick! So, then, the recipe says you put the three ingredients into a bowl, mix them well, and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. The whole thing from prep to clean-up took me 10 minutes

The instructions are: blend ingredients well and bake @350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. I would suggest using the toothpick method to make sure it’s properly baked through.
Insert pick in center of cake, if it comes out dry the cake is finished. If it comes out gooey, bake another 5-10 minutes.

I heated up my 2 cans of peaches in a pot with a little cinnamon half stick of butter poured them in a 9×13 pan then I poured the dry cake in on top sprinkled a little cinnamon and covered with pat’s of butter and caked till bubbling maybe 25-30 minutes in 350.

That’s a dump cake and completely different.
Just put the three Ingredients in a bowl and mix very well. Don’t add anything else. The butter pecan cake mix with apple pie filling is really good. We ate it plain, but adding ice cream would be great as would some frosting.

My best guess would be the 15 ounce can of filling, a standard size cake mix (not the small single layer size) and as for a baking dish, probably an 11×9 or a 10×10 square.

I make it with devils food cake mix cherrie pie filling and walnuts. Just pie filling on bottom of pan top it with dry cake mix and pour. Melted butter over it add walnuts and bake
That’s a dump cake. This one is different. No layering. You mix all the ingredients together, then you put in 9×13 pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

I put my peach pie filling in my blender for seconds and added that to my cake mix (yellow) and 3 eggs. Buttered a 9 x 13 casserole dish. Baked at 350 for 30 mins It was so moist and delicious. Will be baking another one trying another pie filling. Oh, we added cool whip on top when we ate it

I have made this several times with chocolate cake mix, 3 eggs, and cherry pie filling. Mix well with mixer. Spray 9×13 pan and bake 35 min. Delicious a very moist cake

We live around Amush, and my husband has worked for them for over 35 years. Yes they buy box cake mixes and can pie mix.. They have Amish salvage stores around us and the Amish buy everything we do…

I thought I read somewhere that someone used an angel food cake mix and pineapple. Did I imagine that? Did they drain the pineapple?
I have made the angel food & pineapple cake. No, do not drain the pineapple juice. Mix the cake mix and pineapple juice together . That’s what makes it moist. I topped it with Cool Whip or real whip cream and a marshchino cherry on top.
Angel food cake mix and can of crushed pineapple. Mix together and bake. You did not imagine it. DELICIOUS
Different recipe. Open pineapple can dump contents of can, including juice, into angel food cake mix.

I have made several of these cakes. I’ve done apricot with yellow cake mix, carrot cake with pineapple pie filling but our favorite is lemon cake and lemon pie filling. Dry cake mix, 3 eggs beaten, one can of pie filling mix by hand and pour into a sprayed 13×9 and bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. You don’t need icing but I normally do a glaze with butter and powdered sugar. It’s so good!!

I’ve been making this for decades. Got it off the side of a box of spice cake mix. Add cake mix, apple pie filling and 3 eggs into a mixer bowl. Mix till all blended and fluffy. Pour half into a pan spray coated 9×13″ pan. Smooth out and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar (like for toast). Top with remaining batter and more cinnamon sugar. Bake about 30 minutes in preheated 350⁰ oven. Needs no icing but a thin drizzle of frosting is pretty.
Looks so easy but the sugar in it could be kinda high. Maybe use a sugar-free cake mix with the fruit or sugar-free canned fruit with the cake mix. Even both sugar-free for diabetics!
