Bone in, Skin on store brand Drummettes or Wing sections both work well for this easy BBQ Wings recipe. They come in 2 1/2 lb. bags and I usually cook two for our crew.
I use my 6 qt. Crockpot to make this recipe with 5 lbs. of wings and they fit comfortably.

Add your frozen wings to the Crockpot after rinsing them in a colander. Always rinse chicken before cooking! Do not thaw the wings prior to cooking! They thaw, cook and soak up flavor all at one time in just 2 or 3 hours!
Cover with the cola. When we have Coke on hand that is what I use but the store brand and even diet cola works just fine also.
The wings are going to create their own juice while cooking so you only want to barely cover with cola. The combination of the chicken juices and the cola will create a tender juicy deliciousness in your BBQ Wings!

Drain the cooked wings well before adding the BBQ sauce.
Line a large baking pan with foil and spray the foil with non-stick spray. Lay your wings out in rows and brush with your desired amount of BBQ sauce.

INGREDIENTS
12-16 chicken wings, do not thaw
1 can Coke
1 Cup BBQ Sauce (we use Sweet Baby Ray’s)
INSTRUCTIONS
Turn Crockpot on low.
Pour the can of coke into the crockpot.
Place all of the chicken wings into the Coke.
Cook on low for 3-4 hours.
Remove wings from Crockpot onto a baking pan covered with foil.
Brush wings generously with BBQ sauce
Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes, just until the BBQ is heated.
Serve and enjoy!
The writer says to rinse the chicken before cooking. This is absolutely the WRONG thing to do. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels before cooking but DON’T rinse it. https://ask.usda.gov/s/article/Should-I-wash-chicken-or-other-poultry-before-cooking. By rinsing it, you are spreading the bacteria to yourself, the sink and other surfaces around the sink.
If they are frozen to start with, what do you have to pat dry??
So you don’t want to wash the bacteria off because you might spread it in the sink and down the drain, but ingesting it is safer? I’ll be 79 years old in a month, and in all my adult years of handling and cooking chicken, I’ve never had a problem cleaning it before cooking, and I’ve always been sure that the chicken was thoroughly cooked. I absolutely do not understand this sudden idea of cooking chicken without washing it first. I’ll clean the sink with bleach or whatever, using paper towels so I don’t contaminate my dish cloth, and rinse thoroughly.
You poor dear. Clean the sink when you’re done. Use a lysol bleach kitchen cleaner. Easy peasy.

To avoid salmonella poisoning after washing the chicken sprinkle your sink, counter and hands with salt. Salt immediately kills bacteria. Use salt where any surfaces were touched by raw meat. I learned this tip from a butcher.
Chicken was not cooked had to bake in oven for another hour. Next time I will try to cook them on high, for 4 hours
My Mother taught me how to cut up a chicken after she killed it and cleaned i. We washed it then cooked it, and I always wash chicken before cooking. I would never cook store boughr chicken without washing it.
If you rinse chicken why wouldn’t you clean your sink afterwards? I don’t get all the hype, its all about cleaning up after yourself. I always rinse my chicken, wash my sink, countertops and hands.
