What kind of crab am I using in this crab salad recipe? I am using imitation crab meat, sometimes referred to as krab or krab meat. Don’t think that even though it isn’t actual crab meat that this isn’t still actual seafood. This is actually why many people refer to the salad as Seafood Salad.
I actually enjoyed making this recipe so much I made it into a crab salad sandwich to enjoy. My husband ate it on top of a bed of lettuce and added cherry tomatoes. However you find yourself enjoying the recipe, if you had it as a kid this will take you back to those memories. I do highly recommend the crab salad sandwich though, it was delicious!.
Its a great opening act for any seafood dinner and it makes a really good snack or appetizer.
14 ounces crab meat
1/2 cup mayonnaise
12 stalks celery (amount per preference), finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1/2 teaspoon dill
salt & pepper to taste
Separate crab into individual pieces (only if compressed in package – if not, disregard) and chop into 1/2 inch pieces; add to a medium bowl. Add remaining ingredients and gently stir until well combined. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate to store. If you don’t have any Old Bay, use a combination of celery salt and paprika.

I believe the celery amount is 1 or 2 stalks….
I add some finely chopped onion also but 2-3 stalks of celery is a plenty for me.

I agree rather then celery I use carelessly distributed regularly till u taste it add so,e onion or onion powder add some garlic powder
I add shelled pasta to this and dill weed.

It is a leafy green found in produce. Also used to make dill pickles.
It is an herb. You can buy it fresh or dried.
It’s really wonderful in mayo based salads…. it’s what they use to make doll pickles.
I think this is meant to be 1-2 stalks celery…. left out the hyphen….

If you mean imitation then it’s usually another lower quality fish that are minced up, heated and shaped into something resembling crab legs and injected with crab flavoring

What is Old Bag seasoning?
Old Bay is a blend of assorted herbs and spices used often with seafood meals. Paprika, red and black pepper, celery salt and a few more.
Can you use imitation crab meat? I’m inlander Alaskan so not very many fresh seafood and if we do have it, it costs a pretty penny.
What can I substitute for the dill

I’m sure they meant to say a 1/2 of one stalk of celery. A bunch of celery that you purchase would not have that many stalks
Wonder how I could make it without the celery and Old Bay (which has celery in it), as I am deathly allergic to celery in any form.
You can leave out the celery and ole bay. I have used paprika and a little lemon juice

I add chopped onion and bell peppers. It’s great as a dip with a drop or two of hot sauce.

I don’t put celery at all or bay seasoning! I put dill pickle juice and add grated sharp cheddar cheese and cut up onions small! Changed stuff to my way!

I add a bag of frozen baby or x-small shrimp chopped. I just chop all of my stuff in the food processor

l also add chopped shrimp and tuna in mine use it as a dip it is delicious
